Scope Creep

What is Scope Creep?

Scope creep, also known as feature creep, refers to the gradual expansion of a product’s features and functionalities beyond its original scope. This phenomenon often occurs when product teams, in an effort to enhance the product’s appeal, keep adding new features without fully considering their impact on usability and complexity.

As a result, the product can become cumbersome and less user-friendly, potentially diminishing its overall value to users. For marketing teams, scope creep can complicate the messaging and positioning of the product, making it challenging to communicate its core benefits effectively. This can lead to confusion among potential customers and dilute the product’s unique selling points, ultimately affecting sales and customer satisfaction.
